ABOUT
Mercies House began with a vision to provide shelter and hope to unwed mothers in the Hampton Roads area. Through collaboration with the local Chesapeake community, we’ve turned a rural farmhouse into a safe haven. During a stay at Mercies House, residents can expect to be treated like family by the House Mother as well as gain knowledge and skills to help as they prepare for motherhood and their transition from the home. Our goal is that each woman who stays at Mercies House would be filled with hope and given all the tools she needs to not just survive but to thrive and flourish.
When you partner with Mercies House you help provide food, baby items, and much more to the mothers we serve. Most importantly, you give these mothers a choice, an option that goes outside the box; to choose hope, to choose love, to choose life.
ACTIVITIES
Since opening our doors in 2016 we have served a number of women, in various ways.
The beauty of Mercies House is we are able to approach each woman's situation with flexibility and customize her stay according to her needs.
SHELTER
Our first priority at Mercies House is to provide shelter. Our beautiful farmhouse is equipped with space for two to four mothers to stay with us at a time. Each of our rooms provides a gorgeous view of the surrounding land. Mothers also have access to the shared kitchen and living room. We also have a number of chickens and ducks which help provide eggs for mothers during their stay. It is truly a peaceful haven.
